Help save a piece of the Rhondda. All in aid of our campaign to #SaveThePopFactory. The Pop Factory has been part of the story of Porth since 1897. It started life making Corona pop, became a nationally recognised TV studio and live music venue, and today it is a working creative hub for artists, musicians, theatre companies, and community organisations across the Rhondda. Now it is under threat. The building is on the market. If private buyers get there first, everything that makes this place what it is could be gone for good. That is why a group of tenants, artists, and local residents have come together to form The Pop Factory Ltd., with one goal: to bring Welsh Hills Works into community ownership and keep it alive for generations to come. To help make that happen, we are throwing a night of proper stand-up comedy. YOUR MC: Paul Hilleard Paul Hilleard is from Pontypridd. He is, by now, one of the most decorated new voices in UK comedy. He won the BBC New Comedy Award in 2024, was a Channel 4 Sean Lock Award finalist in 2025, and took the Chortle Hotshots title in 2026. He is currently preparing his debut Edinburgh Fringe hour, Grogg, a show about growing up working class in the Valleys and what happens when you leave. He also runs a monthly comedy club in Bristol, co-hosts two podcasts, and somehow still finds time to come back and do this. We are very glad he does. THE LINE-UP Robin Morgan Robin Morgan is a Cardiff-based comedian, writer, and BBC Radio Wales presenter who has appeared on Mock the Week, The News Quiz, and The Now Show. He created and hosts the topical panel show What Just Happened? for BBC One Wales, writes for Have I Got News For You, 8 Out of 10 Cats, and The Great Pottery Throw Down, and warms up the studio audience for The Graham Norton Show every week. He is currently on a UK tour with his new hour, Let's Overshare! He is closing our night. Enough said. Leila Navabi Leila Navabi is a writer, composer, and comedian from South Wales whose 2023 Edinburgh Fringe debut sold out completely and then transferred to the Soho Theatre in London. The Telegraph described it as "a debut full of charm, originality and promise." She writes in both English and Welsh, has credits across BBC, Comedy Central, and S4C, and has toured as support for Nish Kumar. She is, as one reviewer put it, "the actual future of comedy." Phil Cooper Phil is a Welsh comedian who made his Edinburgh Fringe debut last year with his show ...And Such, drawing on the experience of planning a wedding in a tight-knit Valleys community. He is also the person responsible for finding and teaching the new comedian you will see on the bill tonight, which tells you everything you need to know about him. Mike Reed Mike Reed is a Welsh comedian who has been a fixture on the circuit for years and is building a serious track record of competition wins. In 2024 he opened a headline show at the Black Mountain Comedy Festival and reached the finals of the Welsh Unsigned Stand-Up Award. Late last year, he made the grand final of the British Comedian of the Year competition at the Comedy Store in London. He is very funny. Wales Online said so, and they are right. Olivia Green Olivia is a rising South Wales comedian who is making her mark on the local and regional circuit. She is one to watch, and tonight is your chance to say you saw her early. Plus: a brand new voice from @cooperino_comediano Phil Cooper's comedy course Taking the stage for one of their first professional sets. Every great comedian starts somewhere. This is that somewhere.
